2014 Gathering at Five Medals
Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, 2014
Imagine traveling back in time to visit a Potawatomi Village along the banks of the Elkhart River. You might have the chance to enter a wigwam or meet other village visitors, such as fur traders, explorers, blacksmiths, or soldiers from the War of 1812. You don't just have to dream it, you can experience it every year at the Gathering at Five Medals held at River Preserve County Park. The living history event will provide you with a rare opportunity to become immersed in history as you travel to the era of 1600 to 1815.
The 2013 event will be held on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20. The event features over 100 reenactors including Woodland Indians, French voyageurs, craftsmen, frontiersmen, trades people, and soldiers. Scheduled events, including cannon firing demonstrations and fur traders visiting the Indian village for trade in their birch bark canoes are ongoing.
